The United Way of Oxford-Lafayette County Disaster Relief & Recovery Fund was established to support disaster relief and recovery efforts in Lafayette County, Mississippi. The money raised through the fund will provide account credits (e.g., $50) that will be applied to electric bills for households that have been affected by Winter Storm Fern. United Way of Oxford-Lafayette County has approved a grant award to Community Church Oxford, which will render payments to the applicable electric service providers.

As the amount of need and impact throughout the Lafayette-Oxford-University community are so great, the expectation is not everyone who applies will receive an account credit. The submissions will be reviewed by a team of community members with experience related to emergency assistance, and there could be a lottery component incorporated into the review committee’s selection process given the storm-related effects being so widespread.

Every dollar makes a difference as we partner to help our neighbors in need.
